Baldwin County's second largest manufacturing
employer to hire 88 additional employees by the end of 2005
Press Conference to
highlight recent successes and plans for significant continued growth at
Foley location of a global Fortune 500 company
Foley, Alabama (July 7, 2005) ‑ Goodrich, a
global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace and defense
industry, will outline their recent successes and plans for significant
future growth through increased recruitment efforts in a Press Conference
and Tour on Thursday July 7d', 2005 at 10:00 am at their Foley
Aerostructures facilities.
In Foley, 165 acres of land neighboring the Foley
Municipal Airport houses two Goodrich Aerostructures facilities: the Alabama
Service Center and the Original Equipment Manufacturer. The Alabama Service
Center is a 150,000 square foot FAA‑certified repair station that
specializes in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft
nacelle components, flight controls and pylon systems. It is one of only
three Goodrich Aerostructures MRO's that supports airlines worldwide. The
Alabama Service Center serves over 100 customers in North and South America.
Earlier this year, it was awarded two contracts, one by the U.S. Air Force
to overhaul KC‑135R Stratotanker Military Tanker engine fan cowls and inlets
and a second by LAN Airlines of Chile to overhaul as many as 55 thrust
reversers for its Boeing 767 fleet. In 2004, the Alabama Service Center's
sales grew a phenomenal 25% and they are on target for the same growth in
2005. Much of this growth can be attributed to expanding relationships with
current customers and the acquisition of new customers.
The Original Equipment Manufacturer is a 160,000
square foot final assembly facility for commercial and military aircraft.
The Foley OEM builds thrust reversers for Boeing and Airbus aircraft, tail
cones for Embraer regional jets and wire harnesses for many commercial and
military aircraft.
The Goodrich
Aerostructures facility in Foley is home to nearly 500 employees making it
the second largest employer in the City of Foley and Baldwin County's second
largest manufacturing employer. By bringing in new business from operators
outside the state and the country, Goodrich is securing a bright economic
future for the city of Foley, Baldwin County, and Alabama as a whole. This
constant growth and marked success has resulted in 94 new hires
year‑to‑date. Goodrich is still looking to fill 88 additional job openings
by the end of 2005. Company officials are seeking a wide range of
professionals from entry-level to experience-required positions including
overhaul mechanics, painters, processors, engineers, sales executives and
administrative staff.
